DCE Raises Quality Concerns Over Buipe 24-Hour Economy Market Project

The Central Gonja District Chief Executive, Hon. Mahama Fuseini, has raised concerns over the quality of foundation work being executed on the Buipe 24-Hour Economy Market project following an inspection of the ongoing development.

Hon. Fuseini made an unofficial visit to the project site as part of efforts to monitor ongoing development works in Buipe and ensure that projects being executed in the district meet the required standards.

According to information from the inspection, the DCE expressed concern about the footings of the 24-Hour Economy Market project, which he reportedly considered to be below the expected standard.

In response, Hon. Fuseini has invited the engineer responsible for the project to meet him at the site on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, for further discussions and assessment of the work.

The move is expected to provide an opportunity for the technical team to address the concerns raised and ensure that the project is executed to the required specifications.

DCE Commends Police Station Project

Hon. Fuseini also inspected the ongoing new police station project in Buipe, where he commended the progress of work and what he described as the quality of construction being undertaken.

The DCE encouraged workers on both projects to remain committed to delivering quality work that will be durable and fit for purpose.

He stressed the importance of ensuring that public infrastructure is constructed to serve its intended purpose and provide lasting benefits to residents of the Central Gonja District.

The Central Gonja District Assembly identifies the Works Department as responsible for areas including public works and infrastructure-related activities, making project supervision an important part of the Assembly's development responsibilities.

Hon. Mahama Fuseini was confirmed as Central Gonja District Chief Executive in April 2025 after receiving 42 of 43 votes from Assembly members.

The scheduled meeting with the engineer on August 26 is expected to provide further clarity on the concerns raised regarding the market project's foundation and the measures required to ensure that the development meets the appropriate construction standards.
