Yapei-Kusawgu Youth MP Race: Munkaila Thanks Stakeholders Ahead of Final Declaration

Hon. Munkaila has expressed appreciation to stakeholders, political and community leaders, electoral officials and young people who contributed to the Youth Model Parliament election process in the Yapei-Kusawgu Constituency.

Munkaila's message comes as the constituency awaits the official declaration of the Youth MP election results, scheduled for 9:00 AM on Sunday, August 16, 2026.

According to the provisional figures available to Global Pulse GH, Munkaila is currently leading the contest with 7,735 votes (57.5%).

Hon. Abdul Jabbar Mankir has 5,323 votes (39.6%), while Hon. Abdul Hakeem Dokulbi has 384 votes (2.9%).

The figures remain provisional pending the official declaration.

Munkaila Thanks Stakeholders

In his appreciation message, Munkaila extended his gratitude to the various stakeholders whose support and contributions helped make the electoral process possible.

He specifically acknowledged the Member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu Constituency, the District Chief Executive (DCE) and other stakeholders who contributed to the process and what he described as the success of the initiative.

He also expressed appreciation to community members, supporters, organisers and everyone who played a role in the electoral process.

Munkaila said the achievement should not be attributed to one individual, stressing that the participation and support of various stakeholders were important to the process.

Appreciation to Organisational Leadership

Munkaila also expressed his deepest appreciation to the President of the organisation, whom he said would soon become its Founder.

He praised the President's leadership, vision, commitment and sacrifices, saying they had helped move the organisation forward.

He further thanked the Electoral Commission Chairman and his team, commending them for what he described as a free, fair, transparent and credible election.

He praised the electoral team for their patience, kindness and professionalism throughout the process.

Message to His Opponents

Munkaila also used the opportunity to extend an olive branch to his opponents in the Yapei-Kusawgu constituency.

He said the election should not create divisions among the candidates, stressing that the ultimate objective should be the development of the constituency.

“This victory is not about one person; it is about all of us and the future of our noble constituency.”

He said he was prepared to work with everyone, regardless of the outcome of the election, because all the candidates shared a responsibility to serve their people.

‘Leadership Is Bigger Than an Election Result’

Munkaila called on both successful and unsuccessful candidates to put their differences aside and collaborate for the development of their constituencies.

He said elections may produce winners and losers, but leadership goes beyond electoral victories.

“We may compete during elections, but after the elections, we must unite for development.”

According to him, communities are more interested in leaders who are willing to work for them than in political or electoral victories.

Call to Ghana's Youth

Munkaila also encouraged young people across Ghana to take an active role in solving the challenges confronting their communities.

He said young people should see themselves not only as leaders of tomorrow but also as partners and leaders of today.

He called on the youth to use their education, skills, technology, creativity, energy and talents to develop practical solutions, particularly to challenges affecting young people.

He urged the youth to move beyond complaints and focus on creating solutions.

‘We Share One Ghana and One Future’

Munkaila further called for unity among young people despite differences in regions, backgrounds, communities and political affiliations.

He said Ghana's future depends on what the current generation is prepared to do today.

He urged the youth to choose:

• Collaboration over division
• Service over selfishness
• Ideas over insults
• Development over personal interests

He also encouraged all young people who participated in the election, whether they won or lost, to be proud of their participation.

Official Declaration Set for 9:00 AM

The Yapei-Kusawgu Youth MP election remains subject to the official declaration of results.

Munkaila's statement indicates that the declaration is scheduled for 9:00 AM on Sunday, August 16, 2026.

Until the declaration is completed, the currently available figures remain provisional and should not be treated as the final certified result.
