Arsenal Thrash Manchester City 3-0 to Win 2026 Community Shield

Arsenal have started the new campaign with a statement victory after beating Manchester City 3-0 to lift the 2026 FA Community Shield.

The Gunners produced a dominant performance at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Sunday, August 16, to claim the season's first major piece of silverware.

Calafiori Strikes Within Seconds

Arsenal needed less than a minute to take control of the game.

Riccardo Calafiori opened the scoring after just 24 seconds, finishing from Myles Lewis-Skelly's pass to give Arsenal an early advantage. It was reported as the fastest opening goal in Community Shield history.

Manchester City struggled to settle after the early setback, while Arsenal continued to press and create problems.

Havertz Doubles Arsenal's Lead

The Premier League champions extended their advantage before half-time through Kai Havertz.

Christos Tzolis played an important role in the move, helping Arsenal establish a comfortable 2-0 lead going into the break.

City, meanwhile, found it difficult to create clear opportunities against an organised Arsenal defence.

Ødegaard Seals the Victory

Arsenal continued where they left off after the break.

Captain Martin Ødegaard added the third goal early in the second half to effectively put the contest beyond Manchester City.

The final whistle confirmed a convincing 3-0 victory for Arsenal and another Community Shield triumph for Mikel Arteta's side.

Difficult Start for Maresca

The defeat marked a difficult beginning to Enzo Maresca's first competitive match as Manchester City manager.

City struggled to find a way back into the game after Arsenal's early goal and ultimately finished the match without scoring.

For Arsenal, however, the victory provides an early confidence boost ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Arsenal Send an Early Warning

The Community Shield may traditionally be viewed as a curtain-raiser, but Arsenal's performance will give their supporters plenty of reason for optimism.

The Gunners controlled large periods of the match, kept a clean sheet and scored three times against one of their biggest domestic rivals.

It is an early statement from the reigning Premier League champions as they begin their title defence.
