Yagbonwura Gives Damongo SHS Students a Lifeline with New Ultra-Modern Counselling Centre

Recognizing this reality, the King and Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Jira Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, has commissioned a modern Guidance and Counselling Centre at Damongo Senior High School (DASS).
The facility, funded through the Bii-Kunuto Educational Fund, was officially handed over during a colourful ceremony held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at the school's administration block.
The new centre is expected to provide students with professional guidance, career counselling, mentorship, and psychosocial support in a safe and confidential environment.
It is designed to help learners navigate academic pressure, personal difficulties, and career choices while preparing them for life beyond school.
The event attracted several dignitaries, including the Savannah Regional Minister, Hon. Salisu Bi Awurbi, the West Gonja Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Castro, officials of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Yiram Damongo Wura Kelly Boresa, heads of institutions, security service commanders, traditional leaders, teachers, students, and members of the public.

Addressing the gathering, the Yagbonwura stressed that education is not only about academic excellence but also about shaping responsible, confident, and emotionally resilient young people.
According to him, students need access to professional guidance and mentorship to help them make informed decisions and overcome challenges that could affect their education and future careers.
The commissioning of the centre is another demonstration of the Yagbonwura's commitment to strengthening education in the Savannah Region through the Bii-Kunuto Educational Fund, which continues to invest in projects that improve learning outcomes and student welfare.
