SEKYERE EAST, GHANA — The New Patriotic Party’s constituency executive elections in Sekyere East have become the subject of controversy following allegations that outsiders were brought in to disrupt the process.
A man popularly known as “Machoman” has publicly claimed that he and 15 others were transported from Kenyasi to Agona, where the elections were being held. He further alleged that the group had been brought to interfere with the voting process.
The claims, which have been circulating on social media and local news platforms, have generated widespread debate and renewed concerns about security and the integrity of internal party elections.
Security personnel were reportedly deployed to restore calm during the disturbances, and images shared online appear to show police officers intervening at the scene. However, the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and any arrests have not yet been officially confirmed.
As of now, neither the individuals named in the allegations nor the NPP leadership in Sekyere East has publicly responded to the claims. It also remains unclear whether the police have opened a formal investigation.
Political observers say the incident underscores the need for stronger security measures and greater transparency during internal party elections to maintain public confidence in the democratic process.
The allegations remain unproven, and further updates are expected as official information becomes available.
